Welcome to the pre-screening website for the CWU programs In Theatre Arts and Music.

We are delighted that you are interested in our programs and look forward to seeing audition materials from you.

Central Theatre Ensemble (CTE), the production wing of the Theatre Arts Department, produces several shows each season, both on the main stage and in a studio (workshop) setting. The opportunities allow students to put classroom theory into practice as part of CTE's regular on-campus season. To further prepare for future employment or graduate school, all students are strongly encouraged to pursue practical off-campus experience through TH 490: Cooperative Education (Internship).  Students in our programs have recently completed internships with Seattle Musical Theatre, The 5th Ave Theatre (Seattle), Disneyland and Disney World. They have been invited to participate in international tours (Italy and Bulgaria) in addition to securing employment with a number of theatre opportunities such as: Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre (ID), Broadway Rose Theatre (OR), Midtown Arts (Fort Collins, CO), Centerstage Theatre (Seattle), Virginia City Players (MT), Artists Repertory Theatre, Northwest Classical Theatre, Portland Center Stage, Idaho Shakespeare Repertory, Balagan Theatre, ArtsWest Theatre, The Old Globe, Steppenwolf Theatre, Santa Fe Opera, and Williamstown Theatre Festival.

The Department of Music ensembles includes a Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Choir, University Choir and smaller ensembles that includes three Jazz Bands, two Jazz Choirs, Men’s and Women’s choirs, Jazz Combos, and choirs for Brass, Flute, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba/Euphonium, and percussion ensembles.
