Festival Overview

The Philadelphia International Music Festival (PIMF) is a summer music camp program featuring members of The Philadelphia Orchestra. Festival highlights include private lessons, master classes, and faculty recitals with members of The Philadelphia Orchestra; daily orchestra and chamber music rehearsals; multiple solo performance and competition opportunities; daily private practice time; Philadelphia Orchestra concerts; and much more.

Performance and Competition Opportunities

Every participant is offered an opportunity to perform at one of several weekly student recitals. Participants are also invited to participate in our two annual Concerto Competitions (one in June, one in July). Competition winners will perform as soloists with the New York Sessions Orchestra or other professional or community orchestras.

Age Requirements

The Philadelphia International Music Festival Symphony Orchestra Program includes three divisions: Senior Division (14 - 19), Young Artists (11 - 13) and Junior Symphony (8 - 10). The PIMF Solo Performance Preparation Program, Piano Studies Program, Chamber Music Intensive Program, and College Audition Preparation Programs are open to musicians 13 - 19 years of age only.

Please note that not all programs are offered at both sessions. The June session includes the following programs: Solo Performance Preparation Program, Piano Studies Program, Symphony Orchestra Program (Senior Division Only). The July session includes the following programs: Solo Performance Preparation Program, Piano Studies Program, Symphony Orchestra Program (All Three Age Divisions), College Audition Preparation Program, and Chamber Music Intensive Program.
