Welcome!

MSVMA is pleased to announce that High School Regional Honors Choir Auditions will be held online for the 2023-2024 season! Membership into all honors choirs is open by audition to students from Michigan schools holding a current (paid membership fees) MSVMA membership. Those auditioning must be members in good standing in their school’s vocal music program.

Please be sure to read the instructions carefully and strive to submit your application earlier than the deadline.

All HS Regional Honors Choir Auditions must be submitted online. Travel to a regional audition site will not be required. Signature forms for parents, directors, and principals WILL NOT BE NEEDED FOR THIS ROUND OF AUDITIONS either.

Audition Information
You will have two different options this year when registering your students for the online audition.

1.
The student can use the same account that they created last year and update their application information for this year.  In this option, each student must create their own separate account and input all their information along with their director/school information.

2. The director can create one account with their director/school information. Within this one Acceptd account, they can start new applications for each auditioning student from that school. Their director/school information would be entered once and would automatically fill in for each new student application within that account. Directors and students should work together in setting up their profile/application.

In order to start a new application:
  • LOGIN or SIGN-UP
  • In the upper righthand corner, find the Search all organizations box and type in MSVMA
  • Under PROGRAM GROUP (left side of page) select “MSVMA Honors Choir"
  • Under PROGRAM select either “I am a student” (if your student is creating or has created an individual account) OR "I am a teacher/director" (If you are creating a director account that contains all your student applications), then click the green "Apply" button.
  • Click on Start new application near the bottom of the page
  • Follow the onscreen instructions and fill in the appropriate information for each student.
  • Upload clearly titled video recordings. Videos should contain a "head-to-toe" view of the applicant. All auditions must be performed a cappella but does NOT need to be from memory. Recordings must begin with the student announcing their name (but NOT their school's name), voice part, and title of the piece. NOTE: Judging will be completely blind and anonymous.
  • DO NOT include any identifiable information (school name, logo, etc.) either in the video and/or audio announcement or in your audition's file name.
    • Recordings of individual selections should NOT be edited or spliced, but rather performed continuously (in one take). Adjudicators are more interested in hearing an honest performance than a flawless one. (Attention should be given to the quality of the recording…the site of the recording should be as soundproof as possible.)
    • Directors are urged to review application information and recordings before submission.
  • Acceptd, Inc. will be administering the MSVMA High School Regional Honors Choir application. For this service, the final step of the application includes a $25 application fee, paid by credit or debit card, which includes Acceptd’s processing fee and MSVMA adjudication costs. Click Pay and Submit.
  • Once your application has been submitted, you will receive a confirmation email.
  • Failure to meet deadlines or follow application instructions may result in rejection of applications.
  • Evaluation proceedings are confidential and final.

Note
: If the ensemble director chooses to create their own account and works in two different buildings, they are required to create an account for each auditioning school.
