The Amherst Early Music Festival is a workshop offering the largest program of classes for early music enthusiasts, from amateur to professional in the US. In addition to the core 'Central Program', where participants choose their own classes, the Amherst Early Music Festival offers several auditioned programs.
Tuition for all programs is $675
Work study and scholarships are available to help cover the cost of tuition.

Baroque Academy for Instrumentalists

Baroque Academy 
offers high-level, immersion classes for violin, viola, cello, double bass, viol, lute/theorbo, harpsichord, flute, oboe and bassoon. Students work closely with internationally renowned faculty members to expand their knowledge of Baroque style, ornamentation, and repertoire. An intensive all-day program of master classes, chamber ensembles, topic classes, and the opera orchestra. Audition due date April 1 for singers, May 1 for instrumentalists.

The Baroque Academy Opera Project is fully costumed and staged. Singers receive scores in advance and must be off book by the first rehearsal. The program includes instruction in period acting and performance techniques; singers also take part in masterclasses. There are a few opportunities for singers in Baroque Academy outside of the Opera Project. Audition due date April 1 for singers, May 1 for instrumentalists.

Ensemble Singing Intensive
August 7-14, 2022

The Ensemble Singing Intensive is a unique program that offers advanced singers the opportunity to sing one-on-a part ensemble repertoire from the Medieval and Renaissance eras. ESI Audition due date April 1, 2022.

Current Covid-19 Policy: All students, faculty, and staff are required to be fully vaccinated, including at least one booster shot. Participants will be asked to test on the arrival day and at least once during each week of the Festival. Anyone who tests positive while at Festival will need to leave. (We have no quarantine housing available.) We will announce our masking policy by July 1st. Masks may be required at times during the Festival. We are working together with NCC on these policies.
