Founded as an ensemble of impassioned students in 1985, Atlantic has grown into a powerhouse Acting School and a Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning Off-Broadway Theater Company. The world-renowned Atlantic Acting School has empowered aspiring acting professionals to fulfill their dreams for 40 years. Ours is the only conservatory program in the world that offers in-depth training in Practical Aesthetics, the Atlantic Technique – outlined in A Practical Handbook for the Actor. We provide students with technical, creative, and personal rigor, and a lifelong community that fuels success beyond our doors. From our full-time, evening and summer conservatories to our NYU Tisch studio, and our seasonal part-time classes for all levels, our immersive, learn-by-doing approach is central to an Atlantic Acting School education.

This world-renowned conservatory program is a two year full-time course empowering aspiring acting professionals with technical, creative, personal rigor, and a life-long community that fuels success beyond our doors. The curriculum includes instruction in a disciplined approach to script analysis, working truthfully moment-to-moment, and bringing these competencies together in performance of the material.

EVENING CONSERVATORY

Our Evening Conservatory provides concentrated, rigorous training in the Atlantic Technique for the working actor. This three semester program includes classes in Script Analysis, Performance Technique, Moment Lab, Improvisation, Voice, Speech, Viewpoints and Suzuki, Acting for the Camera, Business, and production rehearsals. The third semester culminates with a performance opportunity for an invited audience.

The Practical Aesthetics Scholarship is Atlantic’s annual early action scholarship for each of our two professional conservatory programs: the Certificate Program- 2 years: Acting (Full-Time) and Evening Conservatories. Candidates are considered based on merit and need demonstrated by the overall strength of their audition and application. One Practical Aesthetics full tuition scholarship recipient will be selected for each Conservatory program.Multiple merit tuition scholarships ranging from $500 to $2000 are awarded during the Early Action period making it an excellent time to apply. SUMMER INTENSIVE
JULY 1 – AUGUST 9, 2024

An ambitious six-week course, the Summer Intensive fully immerses students in Atlantic’s signature acting technique and collaborative approach to truthful storytelling Monday through Friday with a Guest class offered on Saturdays. Students work with dramatic texts and are instructed in a disciplined approach to script analysis and working truthfully moment-to-moment. These skills are brought together in a classroom performance of the material. Summer alumni include Anna Chlumsky (“Veep”), Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids), and Zach Woods (“Silicon Valley”).

SPRING COMPREHENSIVE

Running for six weeks, the Spring Comprehensive is a rigorous program that challenges students to embody Atlantic’s Acting Technique, Practical Aesthetics – as outlined in A Practical Handbook for the Actor. Each day, students will build their grounding in the truthful storytelling and collaboration that drives Atlantic.

Our Part-Time classes offer students of all backgrounds the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals and refine their skills in a professionally rigorous and supportive environment. We are thrilled to be returning to the classroom, as well as continuing to offer classes via Zoom, allowing students to stay connected and keep honing their craft however they feel most comfortable.
