2022 AVS Festival Youth Solo Competition Guidelines
Live Final Rounds June 1, 2022, Schwob School of Music, Columbus State University, Columbus, Georgia, USA
The American Viola Society invites student violists under the age of 26 as of June 1, 2022 to participate in the 2022 American Viola Society Festival Youth Solo Competitions. Preliminary requirements, deadlines, and repertoire are posted on corresponding application landing pages.
Prizes to include:
Collegiate Solo Competition:
First prize in honor of Heidi Castleman - $2,000
Second prize - $1,000
Third prize - $500
Senior Solo Competition:
First prize in honor of David Holland - $1,500
Second prize - $750
Third prize - $375
Junior Solo Competition:
First prize in honor of Doris and Bill Preucil, Sr. - $1000
Second prize - $500
Third prize - $250
All finalists also receive complimentary registration for the full 2022 AVS Festival & 47th International Viola Congress*
*Finalists are responsible for their own food, housing, and travel.

AVS Festival Viola Ensemble Invitational Competition
The American Viola Society invites student viola ensembles to participate in the 2022 AVS Festival Viola Ensemble Invitational Competition.
Nine highly qualified youth viola ensembles (three from each division) will be invited to perform in a viola ensemble showcase and mass viola ensemble performance at the 2022 American Viola Society Festival & 47th International Viola Congress, June 1-5, 2022 at the Schwob School of Music, Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia, USA.

2022 AVS Orchestral Audition Competition and Seminar
Live Final Rounds – June 1, 2022, Schwob School of Music, Columbus State University, Columbus, Georgia, USA
The American Viola Society invites pre-professional violists under the age of 29 seeking to improve their orchestral audition skills to participate in the 2022 AVS Orchestral Audition Competition and Seminar. This two-part event provides orchestral audition experience through live-round screened auditions for semi-finalists, written feedback from orchestral violists for all participants, and a unique experience for Festival & Congress attendees to listen behind the screen from the perspective of the judging panel.
The competition features an online preliminary round, after which up to 8 contestants will be invited to compete in live semi-final and final rounds on Wednesday June 1, 2022 at the 2022 AVS Festival & 47th International Viola Congress at the Schwob School of Music, Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia, USA. Following the live competition rounds at the Festival & Congress, winners will be announced, and the judges will participate in a panel discussion on the audition process, including questions and answers at the end. As part of the AVS Festival & Congress, attendance to observe the seminar will require Festival & Congress registration.
