Our 3-week arts intensive SPOTLIGHT in Santa Barbara, CA offers college level training in Acting, Filmmaking, Writing and Musical Theatre. Interested in creating things from scratch? Join us at GENERATE/2021, the only program of its kind in the country dedicated entirely to making and premiering original work. Collaborate with artists across the disciplines including Acting, Film, Dance, Music, Studio Art, Design and Photography. A unique, high-energy gathering of creatives that culminates in our Generate Festival.

More about SPOTLIGHT Arts in Focus
SPOTLIGHT is a rigorous arts program that offers a focused curriculum taught by industry professionals who represent decades of experience in TV, stage and film.  Each week, you’ll learn a different style, technique or approach in your chosen artistic majors. There are four majors to choose from: Acting, Musical Theatre, Writing or Filmmaking. You can focus completely on one major or choose two majors for a broader focus. Each week concludes in a showcase of work for the whole program and the program culminates in our Spotlight Arts Festival for an invited audience. The program is hosted on the stunning 120-acre campus of Westmont College and offers outstanding facilities, a full program of activities and a taste of independent college campus living. GENERATE/2021
Generate is a Performing and Visual Arts Program dedicated to making and premiering original work. The program welcomes all artistic disciplines including Theatre, Musical Theatre, Film, Dance, Music, Studio Art, Photography, Graphic Design and Writing. Mornings offer a variety of workshops for every interest and you are welcome to cross disciplines and learn something new. Afternoons will be spent in studio and rehearsal time collaborating with your faculty mentors and fellow artists as you move your projects from concept to completion. The artistic process is highly valued and you’ll be encouraged to play, experiment and push your own boundaries as you explore what you want to create for our Generate Festival at the end of the program. We value process, collaboration and unique artistic voices.  With just 40 to 50 students, Berridge offers the “small program advantage” which allows for teaching tailored to your individual goals, time for one-to-one mentoring and a close-knit community. 

DISCOUNTS/SCHOLARSHIPS

FACULTY
Our programs are taught entirely by industry professionals from around the globe currently working as actors, directors, filmmakers, producers, and writers in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and London. They bring decades of professional experience on stage and on camera to their teaching work as well as multiple credits in film, television, stage, writing, producing and directing for organizations such as HBO, Sundance, BBC, Netflix, FX, Royal Shakespeare Company and many more.  Meet our faculty.

COLLEGE PREP
Classes are available in choosing and preparing monologues and songs for college auditions, writing personal essays and preparing video pre-screens. Many of our former alumni are accepted into their first college of choice and many of them credit our programs with giving them the skills and confidence to succeed in their college pursuits. We write many college recommendation letters each year and have alumni at some of the top colleges in the country including Yale, Brown, Vassar, and Columbia and at the top college theatre programs in the world including NYU Tisch, Carnegie Mellon, USC, Webster Conservatory, RADA and LAMDA.
