Faculty in the Department of Theatre and Film at BGSU strive to create a supportive and creative learning environment in which students are challenged to achieve personal excellence even as they support their classmates through collaboration and an atmosphere of mutual respect. Our specialization in musical theatre represents a collaboration bridging the College of Musical Arts, the Department of Theatre and Film, and the Dance Program at BGSU. The Department of Theatre and Film is located in the Wolfe Center for the Arts, which opened in January 2012, a facility designed by the award-winning Norwegian architectural firm, Snøhetta.
As we encourage our students to explore a broad range of interests, we have had students who had more than one specialization – Miss Indiana 2011 graduated in 3 and ½ years with a second specialization in Theatre for Youth. Another recent graduate double majored and is now in law school. Our department also has graduates working in professional theatre in NYC, Los Angeles, Chicago, Minneapolis, Cleveland, and Washington DC among other places.
