This submission portal is where you will upload your prescreening, final audition recording, portfolio, and/or schedule your audition. Please note that the actual application for admission is separate. Undergraduate applicants apply to BU via the Common App, and graduate applicants apply here.

*You will need your BU University ID number (UID) to submit this application. Your UID is generated within 72 hours of submitting your Common App, Coalition Application, or Graduate Application. If you have not received your UID prior to the Acceptd application deadline, please put U00000000 (the letter U, followed by eight zeros) as your UID in the Acceptd application. When you receive your UID, you may email us at cfamusic@bu.edu to update your application with the correct ID number.

2025 Application Cycle Deadline reminders for specific levels:

  • Graduate Students:
    • College of Fine Arts Application: December 1
    • Prescreening (if required): December 1
    • Scheduling a live audition (after prescreening, or if prescreening is not required): January 3
    • Recorded media (if submitting a single-round recorded audition): January 10
  • Undergraduate Regular Decision:
    • Prescreening (if required): December 1 
      • Alumni of the Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI) must request a prescreening waiver by November 25
    • Scheduling a live audition (after prescreening, or if prescreening is not required): January 3
    • Common Application: January 6
    • Recorded media (if submitting a single-round recorded audition): January 10
  • Undergraduate Early Decision 1:
    • There is no prescreening required for ED1.
    • Common Application: November 1
    • Scheduling a live audition: November 1 (note: all live ED1 auditions will take place on November 8)
    • Recorded media (if submitting a recorded audition): November 8
  • Undergraduate Spring Transfer:
    • There is no prescreening required for Spring Transfer applications.
    • Common Application: November 1
    • Scheduling a live audition: November 1 (all live Spring Transfer auditions will take place on November 8)
    • Recorded media (if submitting a recorded audition): November 8
  • Undergraduate Early Decision 2:
    • Prescreening (if required): December 1 
      • Alumni of the Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI) must request a prescreening waiver by November 25
    • Scheduling a live audition (after prescreening, or if prescreening is not required): January 3 (Note: all ED2 live auditions will take place on January 17 and January 24)
    • Common Application: January 6
    • Recorded media (if submitting a single-round recorded audition): January 10
  • Undergraduate Trustee Scholarship Applicants:
    • Prescreening (if required): December 1 
      • Alumni of the Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI) must request a prescreening waiver by November 25
    • Common Application: December 1
    • Scheduling a live audition (after prescreening, or if prescreening is not required): January 3 (Note: all Trustee Scholarship live auditions will take place on January 17 and January 24)
    • Recorded media (if submitting a single-round recorded audition): January 10

Applicants will be notified of pre-screening results by late December.
