Welcome to the pre-screening website for the Coastal Carolina University B.F.A. Theatre Arts program with concentrations in Musical Theatre, Acting, Physical Theatre and Design & Production.
B. F. A. P E R F O R M A N C E
All students who are interested in being considered for the B.F.A. Theatre Arts performance programs at CCU must complete a pre-screening process either by video or through virtual regional auditions followed by a final virtual audition with the performance faculty of the Department of Theatre at Carolina University.
Auditions for B.F.A. performance majors involve a two-step process. If passed through the pre-screen by our faculty you will receive an invitation to register for a final virtual audition. You need not apply to Coastal Carolina University prior to the audition process. Please note that offers for spots in the B.F.A. degree concentrations cannot be made until one has applied and been accepted to the university. Those offers are usually made in the end of February or early March. In order to ensure full consideration it is in your best interest to have applied and been accepted to Coastal prior to your final audition date.
To begin the process through Acceptd, navigate to the Program menu on the left, then choose the specific program for which you intend to apply. Should you wish to apply to more than one B.F.A. program you need to complete the process for each program (e.g. once for Acting, once for Musical Theatre). You will be taken to a page where you can upload your headshot, resume, and video clips.
Potential B.F.A. Acting students, please submit two contrasting monologues. The second should be from a classic play. The two selections must not exceed three minutes and must be from published plays.
Potential B.F.A. Musical Theatre students will be asked to submit from the Musical Theatre Common Pre-Screen. Please see the guidelines for more information.
Potential B.F.A. Physical Theatre students should follow the acting guidelines with one of their two pieces highlighting physical ability. If you have a third physical piece of work already recorded you may also upload that for our viewing. The selections should not exceed three minutes.
In the “Bio” text box, please tell us something about yourself and your point of view as it relates to the art of theatre and training as a young theatre artist.
Review of the screening auditions will begin October 1, 2021 and will be closed January 15, 2022. Our on-campus auditions are slotted for January 16, January 29, February 19, and February 26. Audition slots are on a first come, first served basis and space for those is competitive so we recommend that you submit early. If you have not been notified within three weeks of your video submission please contact the Recruitment Coordinator, Dory Sibley at firstname.lastname@example.org.
