Columbia College Chicago is a private, nonprofit college offering a distinctive curriculum that blends creative and media arts, liberal arts and business. THEATRE

Columbia's Theatre Department pulses with creativity, energy and incredible artistic opportunity. An atmosphere of collaborative, interactive learning in one of the most celebrated theatre cities in the world empowers students to create theatre—whether on stage or behind the scenes—that not only reflects the current culture, but also shapes the future. 

MUSIC

The Music Department’s curriculum emphasizes musicianship, proficiency, theory, self-expression, originality, professional training and job assimilation. Students learn all styles of music—classical, jazz, blues, gospel, hip-hop, reggae—and graduate prepared for real jobs in the real world. The Music faculty are working musicians, and the department's world-class artist-in-residence series provides even more opportunities for students to learn from contemporary masters.

DANCE

The Columbia Dance Department's core focus is in modern dance, ballet and West African dance, with explorations in other disciplines such as hip-hop and jazz. An enlightened liberal arts curriculum—along with the mastering of technical and performance skills—prepares students for an array of careers. The Dance program hosts a world-class presenting series, and Columbia’s location in Chicago allows students to use dance to engage with the larger community 

VISUAL ARTS

Columbia's visual arts programs will prepare you for a multifaceted career in a variety of fields—from graphic design to computer animation to interior architecture and more. All of Columbia's programs in the visual arts stress collaboration, interdisciplinary coursework and entrepreneurial thinking. With access to emerging technologies and instruction from faculty who are professionals in their field, you'll develop your own aesthetic and learn to solve design challenges in these rapidly changing disciplines.
