Thank you for your interest in auditioning for the Chattanooga Youth Symphony.
As the region’s premier youth orchestra, the CYS is dedicated to developing the next generation of outstanding musicians and leaders. We provide a rigorous and inspiring orchestral experience for talented young performers who are eager to advance their musical skills, grow as leaders, and engage with a community of peers equally committed to high achievement.

Members of the Chattanooga Youth Symphony benefit from unique opportunities to work alongside professional musicians and the Music Director of the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera, gaining invaluable mentorship and insight into the world of professional performance. Our program offers enriching repertoire, high-caliber instruction, and a vibrant, supportive environment that fosters both artistic growth and lasting connections.

ELIGIBILITY AND EXPECTATIONS:

MEMBERSHIP:
New applicants as well as all current or past CYS members must audition every year. Members younger than 12 who wish to audition for CYS will be required to submit a recommendation letter via the application process. Applicants who are not chosen for CYS may be waitlisted.

TUITION:
Application Fee: $38
Deposit upon acceptance: $100
Membership Fee: $350 ($450 total including deposit)

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

CYS Auditions will include scales, a prepared solo, and excerpts. See specific instrument materials linked on the audition page (listed at the top).

AUDITION RESULTS:

Following auditions, accepted applicants will be notified by July 15, 2025.
