Welcome to Drake University Theatre Arts Department!
The mission of the Department of Theatre Arts is to ensure students have the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve success as theatre artists and working professionals. To that end, the curriculum fosters understanding and appreciation for all aspects of theatre utilizing collaborative and experiential learning methods. Students apply knowledge and demonstrate skills acquired in the classroom in the creation of theatrical productions throughout the academic year.
This mission isn’t simply a statement, it’s a philosophy and a guiding principle of the way we teach the art and craft of theatre at Drake.

Please be sure to apply for admission to Drake University, as we cannot consider you for acceptance in our B.F.A. programs without acceptance to the University first. It is highly recommended that you start an admission application to create a Drake University account. The application and audition processes must be completed to be considered for Fine Arts Scholarships.
We encourage prospective students to attend one of our IN-PERSON audition/portfolio review/interview days if at all possible.

If you are unable to attend an in-person audition, you may upload your audition materials here on GetAcceptd in lieu of the in person audition. If you believe the application fee will present a financial barrier to you, we also have an audition portal through which you can submit a virtual audition for free.
