Audition for the 2023-2024 Season

Have you dreamed of playing in DYAO?
Make that dream a reality by auditioning for one of our award-winning programs!

DYAO provides young musicians ages 7 to 23 with the tools they need to grow and thrive. Students learn from fabulous conductors, educators, and professional musicians and collaborate with young people who share their passion for music. Need-based financial assistance is available for all programs.

DYAO has three main ensembles: Young Artists Orchestra (YAO)Conservatory Orchestra (CO), and String Ensemble (SE). A typical DYAO season lasts from mid to late August through late April or early May. To learn more about each ensemble, visit our website.
  • Young Artists Orchestra: Membership is open to instrumentalists between the ages of 12 and 23. YAO rehearses weekly on Saturday mornings from 9:00am-12:30pm throughout the season (August - May).
  • Conservatory Orchestra: Membership is open to musicians between the ages of 10 and 18. CO rehearses weekly on Monday evenings from 6:30pm-8:30pm throughout the season (August - May).
  • String Ensemble: Membership is open to musicians between the ages of 7 and 13. SE rehearses weekly on Monday evenings from 5:30pm-7:00pm throughout the season (August - May).
Auditions for the 2023-2024 season will be submitted by video. Once you know which ensemble you're interested in, make sure to get the audition materials from our website. Then, select the program (ensemble) from the list to start your application with Acceptd. Don't wait until the last minute to upload your video–sometimes even a small file could take a long time to upload, so early is always best.

If you have questions about the audition materials or process, please reach out to Rachael DeLange, Program & Orchestra Manager, at rachael@dyao.org.
