Welcome to the pre-screening site for the East Carolina University (ECU) Theatre Arts programs.  We’re excited that you’re interested as a prospective student.  The School of Theatre and Dance at ECU offers a BFA in Theatre Arts with concentrations in Musical Theatre, Acting, Theatre for New Audiences, and Theatre Education. We also offer a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography and a BA in Theatre Arts along with multiple minors.

ECU is the perfect match for students seeking a big university experience combined with focused conservatory style performing arts training among peers who are earnest about the performing arts craft. Our graduates highly successful in their fields and many industry professionals recognize our students for their work ethic and dedication. Due to the competitive nature of our program recorded pre-screen samples are required and you must complete both the written form and the pre-screen process. This audition is for high school seniors and transfer students who wish to enter the program in Fall 2024.

NOTE: Applying early to ECU through Admissions is advised even before finding out results of the pre-screen process. ECU practices early admissions and enrollment. This is especially important for any student seeking academic scholarship awards and/or the Honors College scholars' program (full rides and/or tuition waivers for all four years at the in-state tuition rate). Once new student enrollment reaches capacity (especially for out-of-state students); late applicants are rarely considered. If you have applied already or plan to do so as part of the Common Application, you are moving forward in the right direction. If not, check out the links below after completing your GetAcceptd.com Application for one of the ECU BFA Theatre programs.
