This summer, focus on the thing you love in a city you'll love, NYC. Created in collaboration with its exceptional Theatre Faculty, Fordham University Summer Session has three incredible educational experiences to offer student
performers:

  • Fordham Summer Musical Theatre Intensive is an affordable five-week, four-credit college student training program that allows young artists to train and gain access to the professional business of musical storytelling. May 30-June 29, 2023

  • So You Want to Sing Cabaret: Solo Vocal Performance is a three-credit, five-week dive into the world of Cabaret performance during which college students will work with Maestro David Gaines to compose their own multi-song set. July 5-August 7, 2023
  • The all-new Musical Theatre Workshop is designed to help the high school student with a passion for the stage become a triple-threat performer and begin to navigate a career in theatre. July 11-13, 2023

Our stellar faculty includes Actress, Director, and Teacher, Julie Boyd; Emmy and Grammy award-winning theatre producer John McDaniel; Master Teacher in Vocal Technique and award-winning actor, David Sabella; dancer, choreographer and actor, Tislarm Bouie; and accompanist, David Gaines.

Musical Theatre Intensive

From May 30-June 29, 2023, each day presents a varied schedule of four primary classes: Musical Theatre Workshop, Vocal Technique, Dance for Musical Theatre, and Master Classes in Acting and Theatre Games. The faculty offer practical experience and varied techniques to help students push beyond their theatrical comfort zone.

On-campus housing is available at Fordham’s Lincoln Center campus on West 60th Street in Manhattan, at the northern end of the Broadway Theatre District.

Students will enjoy visits from luminaries and forge contacts with our guest speakers, including reputable talent agents and managers, who specifically address topics pertaining to breaking into the business and promoting a healthy and strategic career. Past guest speakers include Bartlett Sher, Michael Grief, Mark Brokaw, Victoria Clark, Jason Tam, Lisa Iacucci, Michael McGoff, and Philip Carlson.

So You Want to Sing Cabaret: Solo Vocal Performance
This summer, from July 5-August 7, 2023, students will have the option to continue to hone their craft in a second course, Solo Vocal Performance Workshop, taught by David Sabella. Grounded in the history and culture of Cabaret performance, this class will prepare students to perform their own two-piece set for open mic nights and Cabaret venues anywhere. Housing is available.

Apply by March 30 for housing. Program deadline without housing is June 1.

Musical Theatre Workshop

From July 10-13, 2023 this immersive high school certificate program will cover a range of Musical Theatre topics including:

  • Vocal technique
  • Dance for musical theatre
  • Acting
  • Musical theatre performance

Students will leave the program with stronger skills in all areas, valuable professional insights, and gain crucial performance confidence.
