Welcome to the landing page for the Georg Solti Accademia! Please use the dropdown box on the left to submit an application for the Accademia.

The Georg Solti Accademia is a training programme based in Italy dedicated to giving early-career opera singers and repetiteurs the mentorship and training they need through short-term, intense courses led by outstanding opera conductors, coaches, singers, and directors of our time. Each year the Accademia take applications for two distinct programmes - the Bel Canto Course for Singers (Tuscany, Italy) and the Solti-Peretti Repetiteur Course (Venice, Italy). Read below for more information about each course.

**NOTE** - If you are unable to afford the application fee, you may request a fee-waiver by writing to Roberta Biondi (registrar) at rbiondi@gsaccademia.org

Every student offered a place on one of the Accademia's courses receive full scholarships covering their tuition, accommodation, and meal expenses for the duration of the course.

Bel Canto Course for Singers
: Opera Singers interested in honing their skills in the Italian opera repertoire with some of the world's leading opera singers, coaches, and conductors are invited to apply to the 2025 Bel Canto Course for Singers.

Course Dates: June 22 to July 13, 2025

Faculty for the 2025 Bel Canto Course include: Jonathan Papp (Artistic Director, GSA), Enrique Mazzola (Music Director, Lyric Opera of Chicago), Richard Bonynge, Barbara Frittoli, Christina Gansch, Jonathan Lakeland (Associate Director, GSA), and Stefano Baldasseroni, among others.

To apply, please complete the application form via Acceptd. You must include video recordings of you singing two arias from the Italian opera repertoire. The repertoire you submit must be sung in Italian, by an Italian composer, and be written after 1810 (ie. Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini, Puccini, Verdi, Mascagni, Leoncavallo, etc). You may opt to submit an aria and an Italian song, if you'd like, so long as the song meets the same composer/language requirements (ie. Tosti, Respighi, etc). **Pieces by Mozart and Handel are NOT acceptable repertoire for this application.**

You will also be asked to provide contact information for two industry professionals (ie. voice teachers, coaches, conductors, YAP administrators, agents/managers, artistic directors/intendants, etc) who can speak to your professionalism, musical ability, and character. They will be asked to complete a brief recommendation survey on your behalf.

Selected applicants will be offered a live audition in London, England in late January, 2025. Any invited applicant that is unable to travel to London in this time will be offered an opportunity to complete the second round audition online.

Solti-Peretti Repetiteur Course: Pianists who are interested in developing their skills as opera répétiteurs/coaches are invited to apply for our 2025 Solti-Peretti Répétiteur Course, which takes place at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice, Italy.

Course Dates: April 9 to April 19, 2025

Faculty for the 2025 Repetiteur Course include: Jonathan Papp (GSA Artistic Director), Richard Bonynge, James Vaughan (Teatro alla Scala), Anthony Legge (Royal Opera House, ENO, Opera Australia), & Rodrigo de Vera (Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona)

To apply, please complete the application via Acceptd. With your application you must include two videos of you playing and singing two contrasting operatic excerpts of no more than 10 minutes in total.

Note: Both excerpts must include three or more characters (For example: Mozart, Le nozze di Figaro, Act II Finale; or Puccini, La Bohème, Act 1 opening etc.).

You will also be asked to provide contact information for two industry professionals (ie. voice teachers, coaches, conductors, YAP administrators, agents/managers, artistic directors/intendants, etc) who can speak to your professionalism, musical ability, and character. They will be asked to complete a brief recommendation survey on your behalf.

Selected applicants will be offered a live audition for which they should be prepared to sing & play the excerpts they submitted in their pre-screening videos. Additional tasks will be set and sent to chosen applicants ahead of time. Live auditions will be in London, UK in mid/late January, 2025. Any applicants invited to attend a live audition who are unable to do so will be offered the opportunity to audition online.
