The Hartt School is the comprehensive performing arts conservatory of the University of Hartford. We offer dynamic programs in the following areas of performance: instrumental music, classical voice, jazz, dance, and theatre. We also offer study in academic disciplines such as music education, composition, music management, music production and technology, performing arts management, and music. At Hartt, students grow as performers alongside world-renowned faculty while obtaining the skills necessary to build a successful career in the performing arts.

Hartt offers more than 400 exciting performance opportunities each year including unique cross disciplinary collaborations. In addition, Hartt students take advantage of our partnerships-in-training with the Hartford Symphony, Hartford Stage, and Goodspeed Musicals. Our students also have opportunities to participate in internship and apprenticeship opportunities to enrich their classroom experience.

The Hartt School is one of the seven schools and colleges which make up the University of Hartford and Hartt’s programs all benefit from the University’s liberal arts core curriculum. Many students are interested in and at Hartt, we support your desire to enhance your education with a second area of interest. With most of Hartt’s majors, it is possible to incorporate a minor in an academic area outside of The Hartt School.

At The Hartt School we provide the best of both worlds – a world-class conservatory set within a beautiful suburban university. Explore what we have to offer online as well as in person.
