Welcome to Hausmann Chamber Music Program (HCMP), an intensive chamber music experience for dedicated string players and pianists ages 12 and older. HCMP is a fully-immersive chamber music center for learning, creativity and musical exploration.

HCMP comprises semester-based programs as well as a Summerfest intensive camp.

HCMP
A 10-week intensive program, HCMP takes place on Sundays at SDSU’s School of Music and Dance. The program is geared towards students ages 12 and up who have had some prior instruction on their instruments (Suzuki level 3 and up) and who would like to experience what it is like to make music in a small ensemble. HCMP welcomes moderate to advanced players as well as pre-formed groups. The program includes coaching, masterclasses, special topic group activities, as well as a final concert.

Intro to Chamber Music
A new addition to HCMP, Intro to Chamber Music is geared towards those who are newer to their instrument and would like to explore an interest in chamber music. Classes are 1 hour long, on Sundays at SDSU’s School of Music and Dance. The program runs for 6 weeks. In this class, students will learn the basics of ensemble playing, cueing, listening, score study and more. This class will help prepare less advanced students to participate in HCMP in the future.

HCMP Summerfest
This is our week-long summer intensive program where groups get to delve into a work through coaching, masterclasses and private instruction. Group activities include musical improv, comedy improv, movement and more. This fun-filled week culminates in a concert showcasing all the hard work accomplished throughout the program.

Note: Younger students and wind/brass players will be accepted on a case-by-case basis.

The mission of the Hausmann Chamber Music Program is to develop a community of engaged listeners and music lovers by sparking excitement, passion, and the spirit of curiosity through hands-on, year-round chamber music training, including coaching, master classes with Hausmann Quartet and visiting artists, performance opportunities, special topic workshops, and forums. HCMP welcomes each participant’s background and unique personality, and is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
