Inspiring and Training the Next Generation of Performing Artists

The Institute of the Arts Barcelona (IAB) offers Europe's leading international Performing Arts vocational training designed to provide a lasting career in the performing arts. Our degrees and masters programmes are validated by a UK university and our acamedic offering is completely taught in English.

Our key programme drivers are academic excellence; transformative growth; honed diversity in skill base; rigorous training and, becoming an employable artist whilst located in a beautiful, cosmopolitan and coastal part of Spain.

The BA (Hons) degree programmes at the IAB are three academic years and have a larger, higher volume of study than a BA/BFA. Our IAB degrees are entirely focused to provide a speciality training in the discipline of the programme and, unlike a US BA or BFA degree, they do not include any study of the Liberal Arts.

Our unique strengths are:

  • Working in partnership with a globally focused UK university to offer a conservatoire style vocational academic education and training at BA Honours and Masters levels.
  • Studying at BA Honours level takes just three years and at Masters level just one year.
  • Providing integrated and multidisciplinary performing arts opportunities across acting, dance, musical theatre, contemporary circus arts, voice and singing.
  • Drawing students from 40 plus different countries around the world creating a truly international community and company.
  • Knowing each and every student’s hopes and needs providing holistic care to each individual.

An International Staff
The IAB staff are directly connected to the entertainment and performing arts industry, bringing their knowledge, insight, professional connections and fresh approaches into our studios and theatres.  The academic staff are supported by master classes and production projects from current professional practitioners and industry-leading Directors, Choreographers and Musical Directors.

A Culturally Rich Location
