We are still accepting applications for Fall 2024 and Summer Intensive 2024!

The Institute for American Musical Theatre is a post-secondary, two-year professional training program for students 17 years of age and up who are motivated to explore a career in the performing arts. We are looking to work with students who have the passion and desire to pursue a career in musical theatre.  We believe in a positive approach to teaching by celebrating what is unique in you, while refining the unexplored potential of your individual artistry.

We pride ourselves on the fact that all of our faculty are either current or former Broadway professionals. Who better to learn from than those who are actually DOING it?  And it also helps to ensure that you have access to the very best in the industry, as well as a jumpstart creating your professional network in New York City.  Masterclasses with casting directors, agents and Broadway stars are a regular and essential part of our students' training.  We have alumni on Broadway, off-Broadway, in national tours, in film/TV, on international cruise ships, on tour with recording artists, in regional theatre and more. But even more importantly, we strive every day to nurture joy and love and keep you connected to your art in every aspect of your life.

We are currently accepting applications for our 2-Year Full Time Program.  It does require physical presence in New York City (we will help you with housing if you want it) and involves training every weekday, 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday. We have rolling admissions with no deadline until our spots are filled. We have selective admissions and applications require video auditions to be uploaded.

We also have a Summer Intensive every July for students ages 12-19.  It's 4 weeks of conservatory level training from our Broadway faculty, masterclasses with agents, casting directors and guest artists and a great way to develop your artistry and get a sense of what our 2 year program is like.
