Welcome to the Kennesaw State University School of Art and Design, where you can create your world!

With an enrollment of over 1200 students, and a nationally recognized faculty of artists, designers, art educators and scholars, we are committed to exploring the convergences of art, design, and creative inquiry. The Kennesaw State University School of Art and Design provides a rigorous education, offering a BFA degree in Digital Animation and a BFA degree in Art (concentrations in Art Education, Art History, Ceramics, Graphic Communications, Illustration, Painting and Drawing, Photography, Printmaking, Comics & Sequential Art, Sculpture, and Textile and Surface Design). Our MA in Art and Design—100% online—features tracks in Art Education, Digital Animation, and Museum Studies.  

Our facilities provide students with state-of-the-art resources. Our new Chastain Point space houses four large drawing and painting studios and an expansive printmaking area. Five computer studios in the Visual Arts Building provide industry-standard technology for our applied arts disciplines of Graphic Communications, Digital Animation, Illustration and Comics. Our Textiles and Surface Design concentration is housed on the Marietta campus, with approximately 10,000 square feet of dedicated instructional space. Studio facilities for Animation, Foundations, Graphic Communications, Illustration & Comics, Art Education and Photography & Video are currently under construction at Chastain Pointe. The new Emily Bourne Grigsby Gallery space will begin development soon to support our students and the work of Athos Menaboni.


How to Apply

Step One: Start your Kennesaw State University application.
Applicants must begin a KSU application first in order to receive a KSU Student ID Number to link the KSU application to the Bailey School of Music application. First-year freshmen must apply through CommonApp. Transfer students must apply through GAFutures

  • Within 1-2 business days of submitting your application, KSU will send you an email with your KSU Student ID Number and instructions on accessing your Pathway to Enrollment. 
  • If you have submitted your KSU application and need assistance getting your KSU Student ID Number, you can find look-up instructions here
Note: Students who are currently enrolled in courses at KSU and are seeking a change of major can skip this step.

Step Two: Submit your School of Art and Design Portfolio Application.
Select an application for the School of Art and Design from the dropdown menu on the left and begin the application through Acceptd. You will need your KSU Student ID Number to begin the School of Art and Design Portfolio Application. 

The Kennesaw State University School of Art and Design is a dual admission program. Students must apply and be admitted to both Kennesaw State University and the School of Art and Design in order to major in art or digital animation.

Important Dates and Deadlines
August 1st: Kennesaw State University Applications open. 
August 15th: School of Art and Design Portfolio Applications open. 
November 15th: Applications for Spring 2026 are due. 
May 1st: Applications for Fall 2026 are due.
