Welcome to the online application process for Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Let Freedom Swing program. By filling out this application you will be considered for a bandleader role in the 2019-20 season of Let Freedom Swing in New York City.
Let Freedom Swing brings outstanding jazz artists and performances to community audiences. Inspired by conversations between former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and jazz musician Wynton Marsalis, Let Freedom Swing includes three jazz concerts: Jazz and Democracy, Jazz and the Great Migration, and Jazz and Civil Rights. Presented in 11 cities around the world, Let Freedom Swing reaches over 85,000 students in over 600 concerts annually.
Bandleaders who are accepted will be notified by August 25, 2019. If accepted, bandleaders must attend a mandatory training session on September 16, 2019. Concerts in New York City schools will fall within the following periods:
Jazz and Democracy: October 7, 2019 – November 8, 2019
Jazz and the Great Migration: January 6, 2020 – February 7, 2020
Jazz and Civil Rights: March 9, 2020 – April 10, 2020
Applications for the 2019-20 season of Let Freedom Swing will be accepted by INVITE ONLY. Do not complete this application if you have not received an invitation email from the Let Freedom Swing team.
