The Lewisville Lake Symphony sponsors two competitions.
Vernell Gregg Young Artist Competition
The Vernell Gregg Young Artists Competition has two Divisions. The Junior Division is for Grades 6 through 8 and the Senior Division is for Grades 9 through 12.
One Grand Prize Winner, who can come from either Division, wins $1,000 prize money and the opportunity to perform with the all-professional Lewisville Lake Symphony at its April concert. It is open to piano, strings, and winds. There are two rounds. The first is judged from audio files submitted by contestants. The second is a live audition before a panel of distinguished judges.
Lewisville Lake Symphony International Competition
The Lewisville Lake Symphony International Competition is open to collegiate musicians 18 - 30 years of age (21-32 for vocalists) who are planning a professional career in music. The competition rotates on a tri-annual basis between Piano and Strings & Harp. The next competition will be for Strings & Harp in 2023.
The First Place Winner will receive $2,000 plus an appearance as soloist with the Lewisville Lake Symphony in September 2023, on the opening concert of the 2023-2024 season. The Second Place Winner will receive $1,000 and will have the opportunity to schedule a recital on the symphony’s International Chamber Series for an additional $400 if the winner is within driving distance, to be awarded at the time of the recital. Third Prize is $500.
