LYRA MUSIC YOUNG ARTIST PERFORMANCE PROGRAM!

(See "Start an Application" on the left  and Select the Young Artist Performance Program to apply)
Lyra Music was founded in 2010, with the vision of enhancing the lives of young musicians and enriching communities through classical music. A multi-faceted, non-profit organization, Lyra Music produces a summer pre-professional performance training program, summer music festival, and youth music competition for string players and pianists.

Applications are Open for The Lyra Music Young Artist Performance Program. Application information and details can be found by clicking on the "Start an Application" link to the left. The Young Artist Performance Program is a residential, conservatory-style classical music program held in New York’s Hudson Valley each summer. This Summer's dates are: June 25-July 8, 2023. Lyra students are classical musicians, ages 13-18 (Lyra may make exceptions for younger students in outstanding circumstances), seeking an opportunity to hone solo, chamber performance, and related skills. Young musicians will be inspired through private lessons, chamber ensemble coaching, and masterclasses with Lyra Music Faculty Artists and Lyra Music Festival Guest Artists-in-Residence: Ilmar Gavilan, Violin; Clancy Newman, Cello; Anna Polonsky, Piano and will benefit from the experience of performing in a variety of settings, including indoor and outdoor outreach concerts and a final gala student event. They will have access to invaluable opportunities to participate in and attend masterclasses and concerts produced for the Lyra Music Festival and performed by world-class guest artists. A select group of students will also have the opportunity to participate as members of the Storm King Ensemble, with guaranteed participation in the chamber ensemble masterclass and extended performance opportunities. Program participation is by audition only, however, once admitted, Lyra Music supports the musical, emotional, and personal development of every participant through a non-competitive environment where students are encouraged to reach their full potential. Need-based financial aid is available.

Each summer, The Lyra Music Festival presents world-class musicians in concert and master classes with Lyra Music young artists and provides an opportunity for Lyra’s young musicians to experience the life of a professional musician on tour, through an intensive chamber and solo performance schedule in a variety of settings.

The Lyra Music Youth Competition motivates young musicians to work to their full potential, while providing invaluable experience and meaningful performance feedback, as well as cash prizes or scholarships to the Lyra Music Young Artist Program.
