Chamber Music Intensive
NEMC’s Chamber Music Intensive is a two-week summer workshop for advanced high school musicians. At NEMC-CMI, we immerse in the world of chamber music through musical collaboration and community-building. Participants focus on two to three pieces in the chamber music literature working alongside our dynamic faculty with a focus on instrumental skill development, score reading, the art of active listening, navigating group dynamics, and the development of leadership skills. Our mission is to inspire the next generation of musical ambassadors through rigorous music-making in a nurturing and collaborative environment.
The Composition Intensive invites composers ages 14-18 for a Festival experience where they develop their creative practice while also building their portfolio under the guidance of two very active composers in the field. Participants will learn specifically about idiomatic writing while building relationships with the musicians on-site for the Chamber Music Intensive. Composers will receive a recording of at least two of their pieces, and benefit from activating the real-world skills they will need to share and grow their music in the future.
