Welcome and thank you for your interest in the Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras! We encourage all youth musicians to audition and join us in 2021-2022 when we hope to be back rehearsing in-person at our conveniently located spaces in Boxford and Topsfield just off Interstate 95 and Route 1.
All NMYO 2021-2022 auditions will be by video submission. As of July 7, 2021 there are still openings for all instruments!
Prior to applying, we recommend you read NMYO’s information about the audition process here.
The most important aspect of your NMYO audition is that you present your best playing and select works that you, in consultation with your private teacher, have prepared in advance. Audition pieces should be works the student knows well and that demonstrate his/her range of technical abilities and musicianship. Your private teacher can help determine and prepare appropriate pieces for the audition.
We expect all NMYO musicians to be actively studying their instrument with a private teacher. We realize, however, that many teachers are unable to give lessons at this time due to the pandemic. If you have questions about your audition repertoire and preparation, an NMYO conductor can be of assistance. Email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will put you in touch with the appropriate conductor who can advise you on your choice of scale(s) and repertoire.
Step 1 - Start Your Application
All audition applications and videos will be submitted using the Acceptd portal. To start your application, please select the ensemble in which you are interested and your instrument family using the menu on the left.
Step 2 – Register for an Account
Parents registering for their child should select “I am applying for someone else.” Upon registering for an account, you will fill out the application. If you have more than one child, you will complete a separate application for each but they will all be accessed via your one login. View this tutorial to see how to create a parent account and link your child or children’s accounts.
Step 3 – Complete the Application and Upload Your Video
Complete the information requested on the application. Once you have an account, you can log out and return to your application at a later time to upload your final audition video directly to the Acceptd site. Upon returning to your Acceptd Account, click the yellow "Continue" button next to your NMYO submission. Your application will not be considered complete until your video has been successfully uploaded. The last step is to Pay and Submit. Musicians new to NMYO pay a $25 fee. Returning NMYO musicians pay a $15 fee. You may request an application fee waiver if you qualify; more information is available here.
