New Orleans Center for Creative Arts EXPERIENCE NOCCA Workshops

The Experience NOCCA application has been re-opened for Open Studio, Oct 5.

It will close at midnight, Sun Oct 6.

The Experience NOCCA Intro Workshop series provides opportunities for young aspiring artists to prepare for and experience a taste of conservatory arts education in each of the 10 art disciplines offered at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, NOCCA, Louisiana's High School Arts Conservatory – Classical Instrumental Music, Creative Writing, Culinary Arts, Dance, Entertainment Production Design, Jazz Instrumental Music, Media Arts, Theatre Arts (Drama and Musical Theatre), Visual Arts, and Vocal Music.

The key to NOCCA’s success is the ethic of discipline and responsibility it instills in students, which prepares them for productive adult lives whether or not they choose to pursue art careers. Creativity requires exploration, evaluation, knowledge, discipline and risk-taking. In turn, it embodies resilience, problem solving skills and a sensibility of trust in the process of discovery that enables innovation.

NOCCA Intro workshops serve 8th-11th grade students in 8 of the art disciplines. Classes are designed to give prospective students a sneak peek into our art programs and offer a hands-on perspective of what it’s like to train at NOCCA. These workshops will also provide accessibility to specialized NOCCA training for those who would typically not have the opportunity to commit to the rigorous schedule. In addition, it invites current NOCCA students to venture outside of their currently enrolled discipline and receive training in a different arts discipline. A pre-screening assessment specific to each arts discipline will be required. Materials may be uploaded directly to the application.
