The Experience NOCCA Workshop Series provides opportunities for young aspiring artists to prepare for and experience a taste of conservatory arts education in each of the 11 art disciplines offered at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, NOCCA, Louisiana's High School Arts ConservatoryClassical Instrumental Music, Classical Vocal Music, Creative Writing, Culinary Arts, Dance, Drama, Entertainment Production Design, Jazz Instrumental Music, Media Arts, Musical Theatre, and Visual Arts.

The key to NOCCA’s success is the ethic of discipline and responsibility it instills in students, which prepares them for productive adult lives whether or not they choose to pursue art careers. Creativity requires exploration, evaluation, knowledge, discipline and risk-taking. In turn, it embodies resilience, problem solving skills and a trust in the process of discovery that enables innovation.

Audition Prep workshops serve 8th-11th grade students in each of the 11 art disciplines. In addition, Dance and Classical Instrumental are open to 6th-7th grade students. Classes are designed to prepare students for the NOCCA audition by providing inside tips on best practices for a successful audition. It also offers students a hands-on perspective of what it’s like to train at NOCCA. These workshops do not require an audition. Participation in the workshop is not mandatory for auditions and it does not guarantee admittance into any regular program offered by NOCCA.

Arts Extension workshops are designed for 9th-12th grade students who cannot commit to a full NOCCA conservatory schedule, but are still interested in pre-professional arts training. It also invites current NOCCA students to venture outside of their currently enrolled discipline and receive training in a different arts discipline. These workshops will provide accessibility to specialized NOCCA training for those who would typically not have the opportunity to commit to the rigorous schedule. A pre-screening assessment specific to each arts discipline may be required. Materials may be uploaded directly to the application.

All workshops offerings are non-credit bearing and held for a period of 5-weeks (2-4 days/week) from 4-5:30pm. Students must be able to attend each and every class meeting. Different offerings are available in each of the four sessions of the 2023-24 series.
