The New World Symphony, America’s Orchestral Academy, is pleased to offer advanced instrumentalists an opportunity to participate in its virtual Side-by-Side mentorship week. On this occasion, student musicians will receive one-on-one training with New World Symphony Fellows, developing a collaborative musical working relationship as they prepare and perform orchestral works of the highest caliber. Student musicians will also participate in online workshops and have the opportunity to perform in one of three virtual Town Hall Master Classes. These auditions are open to advanced string, woodwind, brass, piano and percussion students, grades 7-12. All instrumentalists selected will be engaged in Side-by-Side mentorship activities and the pre-recorded performance.

Advanced string, woodwind, brass, piano and percussion students (Grades 7-12)

When:

Application Deadline: Friday, February 12, 2021 at 11:59 PM


Side-by-Side mentorship activities and workshops will take place on: Tuesday, April 27, 2021, Thursday, April 29, 2021 and Saturday, May 1, 2021

Side-by-Side Town Hall Masterclass will take place on Friday April 30, 2021

The Side-by-Side Concert will take place on Saturday May 1, 2021

No late applications will be considered.

Side-by-Side Virtual Concert Prerecording

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2021 Side-by-Side Concert will be pre-recorded. Accepted students will be required to submit an individual recording of their performance of the concert program. Ensemble members must submit their recordings by March 8, 2021. The virtual concert will also include highlights of the mentorship week. Additional instructions for the performance recording submission will be provided by February 14, 2021 along with the acceptance notifications.
