The Oregon Center for the Arts at Southern Oregon University is an academic division of the University but also partners with distinguished arts organizations from throughout the state.

The beautiful southern Oregon setting serves as a creative catalyst for the mixture of students, educators, and artists.  The Center is housed in six separate buildings scattered across the Ashland campus and contains two theaters, recital hall, lecture hall, amphitheater, digital design labs, art studios, performance rehearsal spaces, music studios, galleries, classrooms, production shops, and a world-class museum.

The core component of the Center includes its Academic Programs —Creative Arts (Art and Art History, Emerging Media/Digital Arts, and Creative Writing), Music, and Theatre.  Nearly 500 arts majors are studying at the Center.

The Affiliated Arts component of the Center provides students cultural enrichment and engagement with the Center’s Chamber Music Concerts Series, ShakespeareAMERICA Institute, Tutunov Piano Series, Summer Arts Institutes, Oregon Fringe Arts Festival, Artist Residencies, the New York City Experience Tour, and more.

The third component of the Center is its Community Arts Partnerships which involves close working relationships and collaborations between the University and the community. Some of these include the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Britt Festivals, Ashland Independent Film Festival, Rogue Valley Symphony, Southern Oregon Repertory Singers, and Ashland Art Center.  The Schneider Museum of Art, located on the SOU campus, exhibits work of significant contemporary artists from Oregon and throughout the nation for interpretation and appreciation by students, faculty and members of the community.
