Patel Conservatory, located in Downtown Tampa as part of the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts, provides the finest performing arts training in an inspirational setting by giving students the tools to: dream, reach, discover and create the performing arts; integrate them into everyday life; and contribute to the community.
The Straz Center is the fourth largest performing arts center in the nation and one of the only performing arts centers with an on-site, accredited, performing arts conservatory. Auditioned pre-professional training is offered throughout the summer and school year to students in grades 7-college in theater, music, and dance. Dance students, please apply through Next Generation Ballet's Acceptd site.

Patel Conservatory Theater (PCT) productions provide focused production-based training in theater for accepted students. Acceptance is based on auditions, which are selective. Students experience a professionally produced production experience and gain understanding of best practices in the performing arts. _______________________________________________________________________

Age 14 - College • JUN 2-28
Rehearsals: 9AM-5PM • MON-FRI, with 2 SAT rehearsals (SAT • JUN 7 and SAT • JUN 21)
Performances: June 27-28
Tuition: $2,200
Join our dynamic four-week musical theater program for intermediate to advanced performers ages 14 through college at the Straz Center! The journey begins with a one-week intensive filled with master classes, workshops, and rehearsals led by guest artists and industry professionals. Participants then progress to a three-week rehearsal phase, staging the hilarious Something Rotten!. This production Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as "The Bard." When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz.

- Prepare 16-32 bars of a modern musical theater song. Something that shows vocal range and the ability to make strong acting choices through song. Please bring the sheet music for your selection for our piano accompanist.

Roald Dahl's Matilda Jr. The Musical

Performances: July 31 - August 3
Tuition: $1,350
Experience the magic of Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical, a Tony Award-winning spectacle that celebrates the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination. Follow Matilda, a bright young girl with incredible wit and psychokinetic powers, as she overcomes challenges from her cruel parents and the tyrannical headmistress, Miss Trunchbull. Join our middle school artists on the TECO stage for this inspiring story of courage and cleverness, brought to life in a professionally produced production that promises to enchant people of all ages.
