Patel Conservatory, located in Downtown Tampa as part of the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts, provides the finest performing arts training in an inspirational setting by giving students the tools to: dream, reach, discover and create the performing arts; integrate them into everyday life; and contribute to the community.

The Straz Center is the sixth largest performing arts center in the nation and one of the only performing arts centers with an on-site, accredited, performing arts conservatory. Auditioned pre-professional training is offered throughout the summer and school year to students in grades 7-college in theater, music, and
dance. Dance students, please apply through Next Generation Ballet's Acceptd site. Broadway intensive students may submit for all summer productions through this site, or may apply through Showstoppers Broadway Intensive Acceptd if they'd only like to be considered for the Broadway Intensive.


Patel Conservatory Theater production intensives provide focused production-based training in musical theater for accepted students. Acceptance is based on auditions, which are selective. Students experience a professionally produced production experience and gain understanding of best practices in the performing arts.

2021-2022 School-Year PROGRAMS

Ovation! Performance Group
Ages 13-18
Classes Dates: September 2, 2021-May 12, 2022 (TH) 4:30-6pm
Tuition: $798

Auditioned students develop musical theater performance rep in this weekly advanced musical theater program. Ovation! members will have the opportunity to perform their rehearsed material throughout the year at various events, acting as performing arts ambassadors of the Straz Center, and during a culminating spring showcase for families.

2021-2022 School-Year PRODUCTIONS

Winnie the Pooh, KIDS!
Ages 7-12
Rehearsals Begin: February 21, 2022; (M,W,F) 6-8pm; 2 Saturdays
Performances: Thursday, April 7-Sunday, April 10
Tuition: Patel Student- $350, Non-Patel Student- $795

Based on the beloved characters of A.A. Milne and the 2011 Disney animated feature film, students ages 7-10 share this heartwarming story with a public audience in the Patel Conservatory's TECO Theater. Students practice skills in acting, voice, and choreography as they help Winnie the Pooh and his pals, Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit and Owl, embark on an adventure to rescue Christopher Robin from the mysterious Backson!


Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella (Broadway Version)
Ages 13-18
Rehearsals: June 6-24, 2022, M-F and SAT, June 18; 9am-4pm
Performances: Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25
Tuition: $895

In this 3-week intensive production camp, auditioned students bring this contemporary take on the classic tale to life. Students are challenged through rehearsals focused on advanced character work, vocal technique, and dance. This intensive concludes with a professionally-produced production on the Straz's Fergsuon Hall Stage.

Disney's 101 Dalmatians, KIDS!
Ages 8-12
Rehearsals: July 11-22, 2022, M-F and SAT, July 16; 9am-4pm
Performances: Thursday, July 21- Sunday, July 24
Tuition: $725

In this fur-raising adventure, Disney’s 101 Dalmations, KIDS!, student actors will dig their puppy teeth into endearing roles, memorable songs and energetic choreography. This charming stage adaptation includes your favorite characters from the film and one of Disney’s most outrageous villians, Cruella De Vil and concludes with a professionally-produced production on the Teco Theater Stage.

Showstoppers: Broadway Intensive
Ages 13-College
Rehearsals: July 25-August 5, 2022, M-F and SAT, July 30; 9am-4pm
Performances: Friday, August 5 and Saturday, August 6
Tuition: $1250

Intermediate to advanced performers ages 13 through college increase their musical theater skills in this two-week intensive. Led by industry professionals, attendees are challenged through master classes, topic-based workshops and rehearsals to hone solo and ensemble performance skills. The intensive concludes with a themed family showcase at the Straz Center.
