Patel Conservatory, located in Downtown Tampa as part of the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts, provides the finest performing arts training in an inspirational setting by giving students the tools to: dream, reach, discover and create the performing arts; integrate them into everyday life; and contribute to the community.
The Straz Center is the fourth largest performing arts center in the nation and one of the only performing arts centers with an on-site, accredited, performing arts conservatory. Auditioned pre-professional training is offered throughout the summer and school year to students in grades 7-college in theater, music, and dance. Dance students, please apply through Next Generation Ballet's Acceptd site.

Patel Conservatory Theater (PCT) productions provide focused production-based training in theater for accepted students. Acceptance is based on auditions, which are selective. Students experience a professionally produced production experience and gain understanding of best practices in the performing arts. _______________________________________________________________________
2024 Summer Auditions
Auditions will be held at the following dates/times:
Session 1: Saturday, March 23 at 4:00-7:00pm
Session 2: Saturday, April 6 at 4:00-7:00pm
Session 3: Monday, May 6 at 6:00-9:00pm
Applicants must submit the following:
- Completed digital application, which includes submitting a resume and headshot.
- Prepare 32 bars of a song. Please bring the sheet music for your selection for our piano accompanist.
- Be prepared to participate in a dance call at auditions.
- Completed digital application, which includes submitting a resume and headshot.
- Upload a video singing your 32 bars of your audition song.
- Upload a video dancing the choreography from the dance tutorial video.
The SpongeBob Musical

Plunge into this fast-paced all-singing, all-dancing, dynamic production! Our high school and college-aged young artists hone their musical theater skills and bring these cartoon characters to life in this summer show professionally produced in Straz Center's Ferguson Hall. Amid song and dance numbers, SpongeBob and the citizens of Bikini Bottom must come together to save the fate of their undersea world.

Travel to the swamp with Shrek the ogre and his unlikely friends as they venture to Duloc and beyond to save Princess Fiona and all the fairytale characters. Join us on the TECO stage as the monstrously funny story and fun-filled music is brought to life by our middle school-aged artists in a professionally produced production.
Showstoppers: Broadway Intensive
Age 14−College

Performances: AUG 2-3
Tuition: $1,450
Intermediate to advanced performers age 14 through college increase their musical theater skills in this two-week intensive. Led by industry professionals, students are challenged through vocal, dance and acting master classes to hone solo and ensemble performance skills. Students also will have the opportunity to experience a musical theater day at Walt Disney World and conclude with a showcase at the Straz Center.
