The Penn State summer music camp (The Honors Music Institute) is one of the most exciting of its kind for talented high school musicians. Now in its tenth year, the Institute is an intensive, week long immersion in the art of music making for talented high school students. As one of the most exciting summer music camps of 2021, specific areas of study include Chamber Choir (32 students), Jazz Combo (8 or more students), Wind Ensemble (50 students), Music Technology (up to 10 students), Composition (up to 6 students), and Piano (up to 24 students). Students entering 9th grade in the fall of 2022 (current 8th graders) through students who will graduate in the spring of 2022 (current seniors) are eligible to audition. 

Accepted students will participate in masterclasses, private lessons, chamber music, student recitals and large ensembles. All institute participants will study with renowned School of Music faculty and distinguished guest artists. 

All events will take place in the Penn State School of Music on the beautiful University Park campus, with all performances occurring in the School of Music’s brand new, state of the art Recital Hall. Students will be housed in Penn State resident halls located near the School of Music. 

The 2022 Honors Music Institute will be held July 17th - July 23rd.
