THE RITA MORENO AWARDS are co-hosted by Broadway San Jose and Children's Musical Theater San Jose at the San Jose Center for Performing Arts. 
 
This awards competition recognizes outstanding achievement in high school musical theater north of Santa Barbara. The Lead Actor and Actress winners will be sent to the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (NHSMTA) – also known as the Jimmy™ Awards – in New York City, where they’ll perform on a Broadway stage before industry experts and compete for scholarship opportunities. High school productions will be considered for nomination in the following categories: Overall Production, Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Supporting Performer and Fan Favorite.
 
IMPORTANT DATES: 

• Registration Opens: Monday, August 28, 2023
• Registration Closes: WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING REGISTRATION ONLINE WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL.
  Please email Program Director, Roxanne Rodriguez at rrodriguez@broadwaysanjose.com with your school name and show dates if you're interested in registering for the 2024 Rita Moreno Awards.  - Eligible productions must have performances adjudicated by Friday, April 12, 2024
• Announcement of Nominees: No later than Wednesday, April 17, 2024
• Award Ceremony: Monday, May 13, 2024
• Jimmy Award Ceremony: June 24, 2024

The Rita Moreno Awards ceremony will take place on May 13, 2024 at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts.

The Jimmy Awards ceremony date is June 24, 2024.
