Youth Performing Arts at Shore Country Day School is inaugurating our Summer Theater Intensive with one of the hottest new musicals, Be More Chill, by Joe Iconis and Joe Tracz. This innovative musical made its Broadway debut last year and quickly became an audience favorite.

The Summer Theater Intensive is an exciting theatrical opportunity for students ages 13-18, who are ready for a fast-paced dive into the process of putting up a professional-level musical production in three weeks. In between rehearsal sessions, students will be offered workshops in Improvisation, Dance, and Stagecraft.
Summer Intensive Theater program dates are June 29 through July 18, culminating in three public performances.
DAILY SCHEDULE
The program will run Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. for the first two weeks, and then from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. during the third tech week. On show days, performances will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Participants will bring their lunch from home; snacks will be provided during the day.
TECHNICAL OPPORTUNITIES
YPA recognizes that no production can be successful without the technical expertise of people behind the scenes. As such, we are pleased to offer professional-level experience at the state-of-the-art Trustey Family Theatre in the technical skills of lighting, sound, set design, and construction, as well as stage management. Technical crew participants will work one-on-one with our technical director and set designer during the Summer Musical Theater Intensive. This program will take a maximum of 5 participants, ensuring the best individual training and supervision.
