What makes the Showstoppers Broadway Intensive different from other Broadway intensives?

The objectives of the Showstoppers Broadway Intensive are to challenge students in the key disciplines of musical theater with the desire to take each student from their current level to a higher levels in dance, acting, singing and overall performance quality.
The following concepts are addressed:
Dance—Proper terminology, basic to intermediate steps, form, combinations, and stylistic work
Acting—Terminology, techniques, script study, character interpretation and stylistic work
Music—Terminology, sight-reading, harmonics, vocal health, vocal technique, interpretation, musicality and stylistic work
Performance—Poise, directability, accepting and applying feedback, endurance, agility, stage presence and confidence
In addition, students gain an understanding of the professional performance atmosphere and expectations.

Our Faculty...

Our faculty and teaching artists instruct dance, theater and music to middle and high school students year-round. All perform or have performed professionally, but are equally passionate about teaching, coaching, developing, directing and imparting knowledge to passionate students. Continual development and refinement of instructional strategies, methodology, curriculum and pedagogy to best address students’ needs and meet curricular objectives is a priority. As a Conservatory accredited through AdvancED, our curriculum and faculty undergo third-party review, are engaged in a continuous improvement process and instructors attend professional development training within their discipline. In addition, our college guest faculty share the latest techniques from college musical theater programs and Broadway teaching artists enhance the experience and bring insight from the artistic and business side of today’s Broadway.

Our Performances...

Showstoppers Broadway Intensive features additional off-site performance opportunities. Past years have included performances at the Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Studios, West Shore Plaza and local community centers. A minimum of one theme-park performance is provided creating the opportunity for students to take the show-on-the-road and experience performing in the lucrative theme-park setting. (All theme park performances have been suspended at this time due to Covid)

We believe the experience of a professional quality production is critical to development as a performer. To that end, our intensive culminates in a fully produced, themed production which includes design elements such as costumes, make-up, props, sets, lights, and sound design packaged in a high-quality ticketed theatrical revue that results in sellout performances.
