The Young Artists Scholarship (YAS) provides specific monetary support for the musical development of promising young musicians between the ages of 11 to 24 who reside in the following counties of Central Oregon:  Deschutes, Jefferson, Harney, and Crook.  The Sunriver Music Festival Board has approved up to $30,000 to be given in scholarship funds to help maintain the finest quality classical music for the future. Students must be:
* A primary resident of Deschutes, Jefferson, Harney, or Crook counties
* Performing at an advanced upper division level (equivalent to Syllabus Level VII or above for piano students)
* Ages 11-15 aspiring to become a music major in college, and have sincere hope for a future in classical music.
* Ages 16-24 planning to become a music major in college, and express a serious commitment to a classical music future.

Please read all guidelines available on every screen of the application.
 
Types of scholarships available:
* College level, conservatory tuition, or one Masters program - up to $5,000 per year
* Advanced private studies with an approved teacher - up to $2,000 per year
* Approved music camp scholarship to be used in the summer of 2024 - up to $2,000

First-time applicants must submit a pre-audition recording by Wednesday, April 3, 2024.  Contact information@sunrivermusic.org if you are a first-time applicant and would like to receive pre-audition instructions. It should include two short (less than 5 minutes total) contrasting pieces demonstrating musicianship level.  Applicants must use an accompanist if indicated in the music.

Audition Schedule:
All levels & age groups will be auditioned/interviewed Friday, May 31 – Sunday, June 2, 2024. At this audition, 3 pieces must be performed on the primary instrument for which the scholarship is being applied, from 3 different classical periods (Baroque – 20th Century). Musical style takes precedence over composer dates. If there is a question about which period your piece fits in, contact Jodie Bischof at jsbischof@msn.com, 541-593-1159.

The completed application must be submitted no later than 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2024. First-time applicants must submit their pre-audition recording by Wednesday, April 3, 2024 to be screened by the committee before being accepted to audition.
