About The Joci Awards
We are a One-Night Showcase for the single largest scholarship program for the performing arts in the United States. This annual presentation offers numerous educational opportunities, including workshops, master classes and a preliminary audition process. The program culminates in the Joci Awards, a whirlwind, one-of-a-kind Broadway-caliber performance showcasing 43 talented performing arts high school students from San Antonio and South Texas, all of whom are guaranteed scholarships to pursue their dreams of higher education.
This awards competition recognizes outstanding achievement for high school students (Vocalist, Dancers, Lead Actor/Actress & Actors) in musical theater. Our Lead Actor and Actress winners will be sent to the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (NHSMTA) – also known as the Jimmy™ Awards – in New York City, where they’ll perform on a Broadway stage before industry experts and compete for scholarship opportunities. (www.jimmyawards.com). We also recognize students behind the scenes and essential to production with our Production Assitant Program and our Student Reporter.
Performing Students may apply in one of 4 categories : Dance, Vocalist, Lead Actor/Actress or Acting. High school productions will be adjudicated in the following categories: Best Musical & Lead Actor/Actress. Students under Lead Actor/Actress must also apply individually. Please refer to the "Guidelines" tab on this page to review Guidelines based on the application you wish to complete (you will need to select the application on the left in order to confirm application guidelines). To register, use the drop-down menu at the top left of this page under "Applications" and check off if you are a student, teacher or adjudicator and you will be lead to the right application for you!
Save the Date: The Joci Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday April 13, 2025 at the Majestic Theatre.
