The Orchestra San Antonio (TOSA) envisions a vibrant future where music transforms lives, unites communities, and inspires generations. Building on the legacy of the Classical Music Institute, we strive to be a cultural cornerstone for San Antonio—bringing exceptional performances to the stage, nurturing the next generation of musicians through innovative education, and creating meaningful connections through festivals and community engagement. With artistry and inclusivity at our core, we aim to expand the reach of classical music, redefining its role in today’s world and ensuring its lasting impact for tomorrow.
Teaching Artist FellowshipJune 1 - June 21, 2026

A Program of the 210 Festival of The Orchestra San Antonio, the Teaching Artist Fellowship is a rigorous performance and pedagogy training program for string players and pianists, with the aim of bridging the gap between a teaching artist’s education and professional performance and pedagogy career. All participants are awarded a $1,000 stipend, travel reimbursements up to $500 ($1,000 for cellists), covered tuition, and housing*. Activities include chamber music coaching, lessons, supervised teaching, professional development seminars, and perform alongside Guest Artists.
We may invite select fellows to perform in a production by The Orchestra San Antonio during the festival. Participants will receive a separate contract independent of the Fellowship.
*If needed. We ask that San Antonio-area residents commute from their home.
The 2026 Teaching Artist Fellowship is open to the following disciplines: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, and Piano.

The String Quartet Fellowship will be on a one-year sabbatical for the 2025-2026 season. We encourage interested String Quartets to revisit the program in Fall 2026.
String Quartet FellowshipTBD, 2026
The CMI String Quartet Fellowship offers an exclusive chance for pre-formed, early-professional string quartets to engage in deep studies with the acclaimed Escher String Quartet in San Antonio, TX. This fellowship provides exceptional performance, mentoring and coaching opportunities to musicians with a high level of experience and commitment to string quartet development. Each participant is awarded a $1,000 stipend, travel reimbursements up to $500 ($1,000 for cellists), covered tuition, room, and board. Activities include quartet coachings, open masterclass, professional and community performance opportunities, and a professional development seminar. The selected string quartet also receives professional photo session and video recording of performances. This fellowship is for string quartets who have the shared desire to establish themselves as a lasting entity. Each applying string quartet should designate one member of the ensemble as their point of contact, and submit one application on behalf of the group. All members of the ensemble must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
