The School of Music at Texas Tech University offers two undergraduate degrees:
Bachelor of Arts in Music (BA)
The BA in Music is for students who choose music as a major within a general liberal arts curriculum.
Bachelor of Music in Music (BM)
The BM in Music offers four concentrations: Music Education, Performance, Composition, and Theory. The concentration in music education prepares students to teach choral, instrumental, and general classroom music in kindergarten, elementary, middle, junior high, and senior high schools. This program leads toward an all-level teaching certificate in the state of Texas. The performance concentration offers specializations in piano, organ, voice, brass, woodwind, percussion, and stringed instruments. Concentrations are also offered in composition and theory.
For undergraduate applicants to the School of Music, applying is a two-step procedure. First, you must apply via Acceptd. The School of Music ensures that your application will be prioritized and pays the $35 Acceptd fee for all undergraduate applicants at no cost to you. Second, you must apply to Texas Tech University through the Application link on the Texas Tech University Undergraduate Admissions website.

Fall 2023 On-campus audition days are: Saturday, February 18, 2023, & Saturday, March 4, 2023
On-Campus Audition dates will be this coming spring. You may choose an on-campus, or recorded audition while completing the application
Spring 2024 applicants should select the private or recorded audition options on the application. A member of our music faculty or staff will reach out with more details after your application is submitted
Recorded auditions are accepted. Private auditions can be scheduled through our Advising Team
