APPLICATION PROCESS

STEP ONE: All BFA Musical Theatre and/or Acting applicants must complete the Acceptd prescreen process and apply to the University. When applying to the university, please declare your major as "Pre-Theatre." You can find out more about Texas State admission requirements here.

Note: Once our faculty makes offers and you have accepted, an "Acting" or "Musical Theatre" major designation will reflect on your degree plan.

STEP TWO:
To begin the process, please select your preferred program from the menu on the left-hand side of this page for audition requirements. Once you have chosen a program, please review all audition guidelines before recording materials. You must complete this pre-screening process to be invited for a callback.

STEP THREE:
Upload your headshot, resume, video clips, and other pertinent information. You are required to provide two letters of recommendation. Your recommenders may upload this documentation via Acceptd or have these materials sent directly to the Department of Theatre and Dance at the following email address: theatreletters@txstate.edu. Please have your recommender include your first and last name in the email's subject line. Please do not send recommendation letters to theatre@txstate.edu.

STEP FOUR:
Submit your pre-screen and pay the one-time $70 application fee. Please contact theatre@txstate.edu to receive a fee waiver prior to submitting your application (you must meet fee waiver qualifications).

Note: The $70 is a one-time application fee and can be used to audition for both programs; however, you must create separate applications.

APPLYING FOR BOTH PROGRAMS

You must create separate applications to be considered for both programs. You will only be considered for admission to the program(s) that you submit pre-screening materials for. You will only pay the one-time $70 application fee on your first application. For any subsequent applications, please enter the following coupon code in the payment section of the application: 02txst24.

WHAT’S NEXT?

You will be notified of your pre-screening results no later than mid-December. Students who are invited for an audition/interview will be able to choose from specific dates in January and February. Please readily check your Acceptd messenger during that time.

Please note: Do not reply to the GetAcceptd email notification. You must log in to your account to reply.

The information provided on the website should address most of your questions, but please do not hesitate to contact our Recruitment Coordinator with further questions at theatre@txstate.edu or 512-245-1543.
