The Texas State University School of Music proudly provides an intensive and nurturing environment that emphasizes student-faculty interaction. We guide students to become performers, educators, and scholars. A long-standing, fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music, the School of Music has over 90 faculty who teach more than 550 students who perform in more than 30 ensembles. We offer a comprehensive array of degree programs, including:

  • Bachelor of Music
    • Music Studies (Choral, Instrumental, Mariachi)
    • Performance (Classical, Jazz)
  • Bachelor of Science in Sound Recording Technology
  • Bachelor of Arts in Music
    • requires a minor or second major in an area outside music
  • Master of Music in Music Education
  • Master of Music in Performance (Classical, Latin, Jazz), Composition, Conducting, Music History, and Music Theory

In order to be considered for all undergraduate TXST academic scholarships, applicants must be admitted to Texas State by December 15. Applicants who complete their audition by February 24 will be considered for all Music scholarships.

To ensure full consideration for Graduate College scholarships, applicants must have all Graduate College documents on-file by January 15 and their audition or portfolio review completed by February 5. Applicants must have all Graduate College documents on-file and their audition or portfolio review completed by February 25 to be considered for all Music scholarships and assistantships.
