The University of Michigan Youth Ensembles

U-M'S SCHOOL OF MUSIC, THEATRE & DANCE - MICHIGAN YOUTH ENSEMBLES

The Michigan Youth Ensembles (MYE) program brings together exceptional middle school and high school students for weekly rehearsals at the U-M School of Music, Theatre & Dance. MYE Students, who are selected by audition, have the opportunity to engage in a stimulating environment, while learning from U-M conductors, applied faculty, and graduate students.

*In-person auditions will be required for the following ensembles:

Michigan Youth Jazz Orchestra
Michigan Youth Percussion Ensemble
Michigan Youth Philharmonia Orchestra
Michigan Youth Symphonic Band
Michigan Youth Symphony Orchestra

NEW FOR 2024-2025: Woodwind, brass and percussion players auditioning for MYSB and MYSO will be placed in one of two groups: Maize or Blue. Wind & percussion players in Maize will rehearse / perform with our Michigan Youth Symphonic Band only. Wind & percussion players in Blue will rehearse / perform with both our Michigan Youth Symphonic Band and Michigan Youth Symphony Orchestra. Schedules for both groups can be found on the MYSB and MYSO webpages. Final group placements are made by MYE Faculty. Students are not allowed to designate a preference on their application. 

No audition is required for the following programs: 
Michigan Youth Musicianship Course *admission is automatic
Michigan Youth Trombone Ensemble
