We have a Professional Connections program that includes Master Classes taught by professionals in the field on campus and there are biennial trips to major theatrical centers in the country.  The last several trips have been to New York City.  Workshops and mock audition situations as well as alumni connections are the focus of these trips, as well as seeing Broadway productions.  In addition, backstage tours and Q & A sessions with professionals are set up for our production and Theatre Management students. Our workshops have been coordinated by Rachel Hoffman, casting director at Telsey & Co.  Workshop leaders have been agents, choreographers, and casting directors for both film and theatre.

We hold a Showcase for seniors in April on campus.  Casting directors, Artistic Directors, and Agents are in attendance.  We have representatives from New York, Atlanta, Disney, Tampa/St. Pete and Orlando to observe the showcase.  A question and answer session follows the formal presentation.

Valdosta State University produces Peach State Summer Theatre, the Official Musical Theatre of the State of Georgia.  Three musicals are presented each season in rotating repertory.  Over seventy company members are hired each season, including two Equity guest artists.  Musical Theatre, Performance and Dance students have the opportunity to audition for the season and many of our VSU theatre grads have at least one professional credit on their resumes from PSST! Production and Theatre Management students also have opportunities with Peach State Summer Theatre and are hired through an interview process.
