Vanguard University Department of Theatre Arts seeks students who want to use their art as world-changers. Small class sizes give rise to close mentoring relationships with professors and performance or technical opportunities often found only at the graduate level.

The Department of Theatre Arts seeks to establish a Christ-centered environment, with professionalism informing artistic expression by developing the creative mind body and spirit of each student in the disciplines of: performance, directing, design, technical theatre, production, theatre management, script writing, theatre history, and dramatic literature. By imparting knowledge and allowing hands-on participation, the department is about preparing students to impact our world for God’s glory. The Department of Theatre Arts values communication, innovation, critical thinking, creativity and agape. In the liberal arts tradition, a degree in Theatre Arts fosters and sharpens students’ skills in communication and critical thinking. Theatre students are well-positioned to succeed in many fields, especially those where creative thinking and the ability to work collaboratively are valued.

The Department of Theatre Arts offers a rigorous training program with a choice of the following concentrations:  Musical Theatre, Stage & Screen Acting/Directing, or Technical/Design.  The goal of the Department of Theatre Arts is to prepare its graduates to pursue additional theatrical training, work in the theatrical profession, or a position in one of the many fields that utilize skills developed in a theatre degree program—collaboration, creative thinking, organization, discipline, critical thinking, etc.

The Vanguard University Theatre Department lives in the magical world of theatre, and we are passionate about contributing our talents to furthering your growth and participation in it. We have years of professional experience and knowledge that we want to apply to the shaping of your raw talents. We will develop your communication skills and give you the tools that you can apply to life career goals as well as personal goals. Our Bachelor of Arts program is carefully designed to line up with where you are when you enter the program and then propel you into your desired career in theatre.
