The Wayne State University Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance offers a nationally-ranked performing arts program, offering bachelor's programs in the heart of Detroit's diverse arts scene. Programs prepare students for professional careers through the following academic degrees: 

BFA Dance: An intensive curriculum to support students toward developing professional careers as performing artists, choreographers, or dance scholars. Dance technique, technology and the history, philosophies, and aesthetics of dance are all central to this program.
BS Dance: A broad curriculum for students who wish to combine their university-level dance training with studies in other areas of interest that supports their career goals and aspirations. 
BFA Theatre: An intensive curriculum with two tracks for students. One in Performance and one in Design, Technical Theatre and Management.
BA Theatre: A broad curriculum engaging students in all aspects of theatre including performance, stage management, scenic design, costume design, and lighting design.

Our mission is to engage, educate, and empower diverse student/artists through the rigorous study, practice, and production of theatre and dance to enrich Detroit and global communities.
