Welcome and thank you for your interest in applying to Wright State University’s School of Fine and Performing Arts, Music degree (major or minor). Our admissions process does not use this site for our official applications; the Music application is located at the Undergraduate Admissions Website.

Our faculty collects and views audition audio and video files submitted in lieu of an in-person audition via Acceptd. Please note that start and end dates on this site do not reflect actual deadlines. The deadlines you see in the drop down boxes only show when we keep the portal open for general institutional purposes.

For more information about our complete application process and deadlines, please visit our School of Fine and Performing Arts, Music website: Auditions for Admission

For your convenience, we have also included a general overview here.

For Undergraduate Applicants

All undergraduate applicants to the Music program must complete two steps.

1. Apply online with the full online application to both Wright State University:

2. And complete the Music Application.

To have the best chance of being considered for a music scholarship, all materials and the live audition (if required) must be completed by the date of our last scholarship audition day published on our School of Fine and Performing Arts/ Music website.

Please note that applicants for ALL of our undergraduate degree programs must demonstrate acceptable proficiency in an audition on a major instrument or voice as part of the application process, but not all applicants will use this portal.

Which undergraduate applicants MAY use this online portal?  Although we strongly encourage live, on-site auditions, all undergraduate applicants may submit their entire audition online at the Acceptd site. This includes all instruments and voice types. If you meet this criteria and it is your intention to submit your entire audition online, please notify the music undergraduate admission office of your intent through email at music@wright.edu or call (937)775-3789.

If you have a conflict with the scheduled audition days, please contact the applied teacher for your instrument or voice to discuss the possibility of submitting an online audition.

All online auditions must be a continuous (unedited) video shot with a single camera at an angle that shows both hands and embouchure (as appropriate). For content of the audition, select your degree program from the drop down menus on the right; you do not need to include sight-reading with online auditions.

For Graduate Applicants

All graduate applicants to the Master of Music degree must complete two steps.

1. Apply online to both Wright State University School of Graduate Studies;

2. And send your resume and any supporting materials to:

Director of Graduate Studies in Music
School of Fine and Performing Arts CAC
3640 Colonel Glenn Hwy.
Dayton, OH  45435

To have the best chance of being considered for a graduate teaching assistantship or graduate tuition scholarship, all materials and the live audition (if required) must be completed before March 15.

If you have a conflict with the scheduled audition days and live within 250 miles of the Wright State campus, please contact the applied teacher for your instrument or voice and the Director of Graduate Studies in Music, to discuss the possibility of submitting an online audition.

If your graduate degree plan requires a performance audition, e.g., Master of Music in Performance, and you intend on submitting your materials through Acceptd rather than a live audition, then your audio and video materials must meet the following specifications:

All online auditions must be a continuous (unedited) video shot with a single camera at an angle that shows both hands and embouchure (as appropriate). For content of the audition, please contact the applied teacher for your instrument or voice to discuss content for the online audition.
