We, the members of the West Virginia University School of Music, share a mission, to create an innovative and inclusive musical community that prepares informed, ethical students for meaningful creative lives as performers, educators, composers, conductors, music therapists, entrepreneurs, and scholars.

 

We strive to cultivate a vibrant community of musicians and scholars who engage in research and creative activity in the fields of music performance and improvisation, composition, music-teacher education, theory, musicology, music therapy, technology, and industry. Our rigorous programs and distinguished faculty provide students the opportunity to develop the abilities to become consummate leaders in the musical arts.

UNIVERSITY APPLICATION: Please complete the West Virginia University application prior to submitting your School of Music Audition Registration. Admission to the School of Music is contingent on your admission to the university.  Additional information on the university application process is available at How to Apply - Undergraduate Admissions at WVU

  

The School of Music scholarship deadline is March 15th, 2025. Applications received after this date will be reviewed for scholarships only if funds become available.   

APPLICATION:
There is a cost of $10 dollars to apply to WVU School of Music through Acceptd. If you are having trouble paying this fee, please contact the Acceptd Help Desk

APPLYING TO THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC:

We do not prescreen for our School of Music programs. All students who complete both the university application and audition registration will be seen by the faculty. Both on-campus audition registration and video audition submission are available through the audition registration form. For scholarship consideration, we strongly encourage on-campus auditions, although other arrangements, such as a video audition followed by an in-person or Zoom meeting with the faculty are also acceptable.

WVU School of Theatre & Dance

With 180 students working in 4 theatres, 6 shops, 4 labs, producing 8 –10 shows per year, the School of Theatre and Dance is an exciting and vibrant place to study and practice the art and craft of theatre and dance. The program offers a one-to-one mentoring basis with a challenging and comprehensive curriculum.

The School of Theatre & Dance is part of WVU’s College of Creative Arts and Media and shares the Loulie, Valerie and William Canady Creative Arts Center with the School of Music, School of Art & Design, and the Reed School of Media and Communications. The School offers students the advantages of personal instruction of a smaller school with the resources of a major research university.
