Entry to the Conservatorium is by audition. If applying in Undergraduate or Postgraduate coursework, you must formally apply for your chosen course and register an audition in this portal, ACCEPTD, the Con's official audition system. Follow the steps outlined below to make your application.

Current USyd students, including Conservatorium students – you will register your details in this portal if you’re looking to transfer courses or change your principal study area. Read the ‘Applying as a current University of Sydney student’ section below.

  1. Apply for your course
  2. Register audition and/or interview in this portal, ACCEPTD. Start your registration by selecting the degree and program on the left side of this page.
  3. Check audition guides to prepare audition/portfolio: UG Download PDF / PG Download PDF. Also available in Mandarin: UG Download PDF / PG Download PDF.

Registering in ACCEPTD - you will register, pay the audition fee, schedule a timeslot/s (and upload files if required).

Follow steps 1-2 above to apply then visit the website here for useful information about this process.

Applying as a current University of Sydney student?
  • Register an audition if you're applying to the Con for the first time or wanting to transfer music courses or change your instrument/program - follow steps 2-3 above to register audition; and
  • complete an internal course application in your Sydney Student portal if changing courses.
  • If you're looking to change your music course but not your instrument/program, in most cases, no audition is required. However, you must still register in this portal - regardless of auditioning or not. 
  • If transferring to BMus (Music Education), you must undertake an interview. Schedule your interview appointment in this portal.
  • Sem 1 entry = apply and register before 30 November. Sem 2 entry = apply and register before 22 June.
