Sydney Conservatorium of Music

Welcome!

Entry to the Conservatorium is by audition. If applying in Undergraduate or Postgraduate coursework, you must formally apply to the University of Sydney and to ACCEPTD, right here at the Con's official audition portal. Follow the steps outlined below to make your application.
Audition registrations are currently open for Semester 2 2024 and Semester 1 2025 intake. Semester 2 (mid-year) intake is open for a select group of degrees.  

To apply:
1. Apply online to the University of Sydney (you may be directed to the UAC site if it applies to you); and
2. Register audition or interview in this portal;

Registering in Acceptd - you will register, schedule (and upload files if required).
1. Select from the dropdowns to start your application
2. Fill out the application form
3. Pay the fee
4. Carefully read the instructions on how to schedule your timeslot and/or upload files
5. Submit your application

If you are required to book an appointment, we recommend doing this first (step 1-4 above), then you can come back later to upload your media if you need to. Your application will remain 'in progress' if you don't complete all steps listed above.  

Instrumentalists/vocalists (not contemporary music practice applicants)
Live auditions will be held at the Conservatorium. You will schedule your audition time in this portal. If you live outside Sydney and/or cannot travel to the Conservatorium for a live audition, you may submit a video audition – do this by registering your details in this portal and upload your video file by the deadlines. 

Music Theatre applicants
You will submit your Part 1 video in this portal. Successful applicants will then be invited to attend a call-back live audition round at the Conservatorium on Sat 28 September.

Portfolio applicants (composition areas, contemporary music, musicology programs) 
You will submit a portfolio and schedule your interview time in this portal. Interviews will be held via Zoom. You are welcome to register and schedule an interview in this portal prior to submitting your portfolio (and before the deadline).

Round 1 (July) - 8 to 12 July 2024
Semester 2, 2024 (in selected degrees) and Semester 1, 2025 intake
Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees in all areas except;
Jazz Performance, Drum-Set, Music Theatre
Audition registration closes 30 June 2024 

Round 2 (September) - 30 Sept to 4 Oct 2024
Semester 1, 2025 intake
Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees in all areas
Audition registration closes 22 Sept 2024
Music Theatre audition registration closes 8 Sept 2024 

Round 3 (December) - 2 to 3 Dec 2024
Semester 1, 2025 intake
Postgraduate degrees in Classical, Historical, Jazz and Chinese instrumental/vocal performance
Audition registration closes 30 Nov 2024

Receiving your audition result
Notifications regarding your audition/interview result will be sent to your Acceptd 'messages' tab in your profile. It is important to note that this message is purely about your audition or interview only and not about a place at the University of Sydney. Official notices about USYD entry is sent from the university.

Postgraduate Research candidates do not use this portal. Please apply directly to the University of Sydney.
